Built on a rocky promontory overlooking the confluence of the Saône and Apance rivers, Châtillon-sur-Saône, the former fortified city of Barrois and the seat of the Provost, has retained from its rich past many architectural elements and buildings that make it a unique ensemble.

A visit to the Museum Houses is part of the enhancement of the site and its history. It is the necessary and essential crossing point for a successful visit of the city.
25 spaces over 600 m² of restored and furnished buildings (houses of the shepherd, the shoemaker, Grosse Tour from the 14th C. Cl.MH) host life-size reconstructions of atmospheric scenes of the city over the course of its history and centuries.
